Coastal Soul brings the beach to the dance floor at every gig. Fuelled by a love for the ocean, family and mateship, these boys are indeed riding the wave of musical enjoyment and success. The band formed in early 2007 and has been gathering a solid fan base since.

Coastal Soul is comprised of Phil Klaus, Jamie Martin and Chris Barrow.  With three varying musical backgrounds but similar influences, goals and aspirations, the boys have developed a unique stage show full of good times and great tunes.

Phil is the multi-instrumentalist and brings passion and emotion to the sounds of Coastal Soul. In between his unique vocal delivery Phil finds time to strum the 12 string, play percussion and even manages to throw some harp in every now and again. Phil had been the front man for a number of local rock bands over the years before settling into more acoustic style music with local act, Wooden Vibes.

Jamie developed his skills entertaining locals at restaurants and resorts around the coast over the years before teaming up with mates in a few different duos. These eventually lead to the formation of Coastal Soul. Jamie’s rhythm and smooth yet simple vocals can be attributed to his influences such as Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and John Butler. Jamie enjoys being able to share and produce music with two great mates.

After a lengthy musical hiatus, Chris Barrow's blues driven leads add a fresh new dimension to the band. Growing up in Sawtell, Chris' tones capture the essence of the coast and flow into the music effortlessly.

2011 has seen the release of the much anticipated debut album from the lads from Coastal Soul. “Everyday People” showcases the emotion, sincerity and friendship that make Coastal Soul unique, inspiring and intriguing. This full length album comprises of an array of solid tracks. From the slide induced “Everyday People”, fun filled “Summer Days”, power balladesque “Deep Ocean” to the thumping grunge driven lead of “Sometimes”, the album indeed invokes a soul searching audial journey of immense proportions.

The emission of positive vibes creates a warm and relaxed atmosphere ensuring every Coastal Soul appearance is a memorable experience. The stage show creatively blends the songwriting prowess of the bands original tunes with “souled” covers from artists such as Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenrieter, John Butler and The Beautiful Girls.

With an ever-growing following, Coastal Soul continues to progress their craft and provide the perfect coastal atmosphere for any occasion. The trio pride themselves on their level of professionalism whilst maintaining the love and the privilege to share music with enthusiastic crowds bopping to their laid back tunes.
